The Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that the current administration is working to recover substantial funds stolen from past governments, particularly under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Emir made the remarks during a sensitization event on federal government intervention programs at the state and local government levels, held in Minna, Niger State, and organized by the Office of the Minister of Information and National Orientation alongside the National Orientation Agency.

Represented by Hadinin Minna, Alhaji Maikudi Achaza, the Emir defended President Tinubu’s efforts to tackle corruption inherited from previous administrations.

He emphasized that much of the public is unaware of the strides Tinubu is making to rectify these past wrongs, partly due to insufficient communication from government officials in local languages.

“A lot of funds were stolen by the past administrations, which the current government is trying to recover. But many citizens are not enlightened about this.

“Since the removal of the fuel subsidy, a lot has been done to ease the burden on citizens. Government should speak to the people about its policies and programs in local languages for better understanding,” the Emir said.

The event also featured contributions from various stakeholders, including people living with disabilities in Niger State, who raised concerns about being excluded from federal intervention programs in the state.
