Predator: Badlands Box Office Hits Major Milestone As Week 1 Draws To A Close

Predator: Badlands has hit a major domestic milestone at the end of its first full week in theaters. 2025’s Predator: Badlands, which follows an outcast Yautja embarking on a dangerous hunt, is the ninth feature-length installment and seventh theatrical release in the sci-fi franchise. The movie debuted on November 7, earning the highest-grossing opening weekend of the entire franchise.

Per The Numbers, Predator: Badlands took in $2.3 million at the domestic box office on Wednesday, November 12. This has pushed its cumulative domestic box office haul to $51.6 million, making it the 34th movie of 2025 to pass the $50 million milestone. It has accomplished this feat within just six days, which marks the fastest that a Predator movie has ever passed the milestone.

In fact, several previous installments never reached the $50 million milestone at the domestic box office. In addition to 2022’s Prey and 2025’s Killer of Killers, which premiered directly on streaming and didn’t run in domestic theaters, that roster includes 1990’s Predator 2 ($28.3 million domestic) and 2007’s Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem ($41.8 million domestic).

While Predator: Badlands has only bested the previous record holder (Alien vs. Predator, with seven days) by a hair, this milestone shows that the record-breaking movie is maintaining its lead over the previous installments. It seems likely to continue to do so, as its impending sophomore weekend is expected to have a week-on-week drop of roughly 50%.

In addition to being relatively narrow for a major blockbuster, its sophomore drop is about even with the franchise’s previous installments and widens the gap between itself and AVP, which dropped 67.6%. Its success is being propelled by solid word of mouth and strong Predator: Badlands reviews, which have earned the new movie a Rotten Tomatoes score of 85%, which is the best of any theatrical Predator installment.

If it can continue its current trajectory, it seems very likely that Predator: Badlands will quickly become the highest-grossing installment of the entire franchise, worldwide.

If it lands at the upper end of its current sophomore weekend projections and continues surging past the performance of AVP, which is currently the No. 1 Predator title, it could potentially even gross as much as $280 million by the end of its run. This would surpass the estimated $262.5 million break-even point that Predator: Badlands may have been saddled with thanks to its huge reported budget of $105 million.
