Presidency Must Be Negotiated, Not Awarded — Rochas Tells Obi to Secure South-East’s 2031 Slot or Lose Support

According To Our Reporter, political commentator Arc Uche Rochas has reignited debate on Nigeria’s power-sharing game, insisting the presidency is earned through negotiation, not entitlement.

In a fiery X post, Rochas pointed to Peter Obi as the South-East’s chief negotiator, just like Bola Tinubu leveraged his influence and strategy to secure northern acceptance and eventual victory in 2023.

He warned Obi against “misguided and arrogant logic,” urging him to negotiate wisely for the South-East’s 2031 presidential slot or risk losing backing.

Rochas also dismissed ADC zoning pressures, insisting the party will either hold open primaries or back Atiku Abubakar, affirming that Nigerian political power is won through savvy bargaining and alliances—not by right.
