The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy, Sunday Dare, has shed light on the secrecy surrounding the rescue of 38 abducted worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Reacting to widespread questions from Nigerians on how the victims were secured, Dare explained on Tuesday via his 𝕏 handle that such operations require careful coordination between several security agencies and local intelligence networks.
He said, “The process of securing or freeing victims of kidnappings is often a complicated one involving several steps and multiple security personnel, even local intelligence.”
He said the top priority in any rescue mission is twofold, freeing the captives and apprehending the terrorists responsible.
Dare stressed that the Federal Government will not publicly reveal the operational details behind the rescue.
The presidential aide further stated, “The full details of such operations are never disclosed in full. It’s a security matter.”
His comments come amid public curiosity following revelations that the Department of State Services and the military had established contact with the kidnappers during the negotiations.
The media aide applauded the efforts of security forces who also recently secured the release of abducted schoolchildren in Niger State.
He added, “We salute recent efforts by our security team in the Niger and Kwara incidents and know that perpetrators and the kidnappers will soon be arraigned to face the law of the land.”
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, had earlier announced the successful release of the 38 victims, stating that President Bola Tinubu personally coordinated aspects of the rescue operation.
