Pujols and Gorman homer, St. Louis beats the Dodgers

Albert Pujols and rookie Nolan Gorman hit solo homers and the St. Louis Cardinals snapped Los Angeles’ seven-game winning streak, beating the Dodgers 7-6 on Tuesday.

The teams met for the first time this season. Their last matchup came in last season’s NL wild-card game, when Chris Turner hit a two-run homer off Alex Reyes that gave them a 3-1 victory.

Andrew Knizner drove in three runs on three singles as St. Louis won their third straight matchup.

Trea Turner hit a two-run homer and single and scored three runs for the Dodgers. Freddie Freeman added a solo homer, two singles and an RBI double.

Juan Oviedo, the second of seven St. Louis pitchers, improved to 2-1 with the win. He worked a one-third inning. Giovanny Gallegos gave up a home run off Freeman, but managed to pull himself together for his 10th save.

For the Dodgers, Dominican Hanser Alberto 4-1 with a run scored.

For the Cardinals, the Dominican Albert Pujols 3-1 with a run scored and an RBI. The Venezuelan Juan Yépez 3-1 with a run scored.
