Erica Banks was arrested on Wednesday after authorities reportedly found a stolen firearm in her luggage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The rapper was preparing to board a flight to Houston when TSA agents discovered a gun inside her Louis Vuitton bag during routine screening. The firearm, a black and gray Smith & Wesson, was flagged after going through the X-ray machine.
According to police, Banks told officers she didn’t know the gun was in her bag and claimed it belonged to her “security,” though she did not provide a name. A subsequent check on the weapon revealed it had been reported stolen back in 2018 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Banks, whose real name is Erica Scharmane Breaux, was arrested on a charge of theft by receiving stolen property and transported to Clayton County Jail.
She was booked Wednesday night and released a few hours later, per jail records.
Erica Banks first shot to fame in 2021 with her breakout single “Buss It,” which soared to the top of the Billboard Top Triller U.S. chart following a viral TikTok dance craze. She joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in June 2023, and more recently, she signed a joint venture deal with Arista Records in December 2024.
