British rapper and actor Ghetts will not appear in the upcoming second season of Netflix’s hit series Supacell after admitting in court that he caused the death of a young man in a hit-and-run crash.
Although Netflix had not officially named him among the returning cast, a source familiar with production says Ghetts will not be involved in Season 2, which is currently filming across the United Kingdom.
The 41-year-old performer, whose real name is Justin Clarke, pleaded guilty on Monday to causing death by dangerous driving. He appeared before London’s Old Bailey through a video link from Pentonville prison.
Police say the collision happened on October 18 in East London. Investigators reported that Clarke was driving his BMW at more than twice ...ed 30 mph limit when he struck 20-year-old Yubin Tamang as the young man crossed the road. Clarke did not stop at the scene and was taken into custody at his home several hours later. Tamang was taken to the hospital but died two days after the crash.
“Our thoughts and sympathies remain with Yubin’s family. While nothing can undo their loss, today’s two guilty pleas mark a step toward justice. We hope this brings them some measure of comfort,” Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite, of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said in a statement at the time.
“In this case, the outstanding work and diligence of our investigation team, led by Detective Sergeant Faye Cook, ensured that Clarke-Samuel had no choice but to plead guilty to two charges today,” the statement concluded.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 12.
In Supacell, Clarke played Krazy, a volatile antagonist whose fate had been left uncertain at the end of the first season. The finale suggested he might have been shot, but the moment was left open to interpretation, sparking speculation that he could return.
