Ray J says he is closing the door on a chaotic period in his life and stepping into a year focused on accountability, health and change.
The singer and reality star shared a message with fans on Instagram on yesterday, just after celebrating his 45th birthday. In the video, Ray J thanked supporters for sticking with him during what he described as a painful stretch. “God is good,” he said. “Thank you for all the love, the prayers and even the criticism. I needed all of it.”
Ray J acknowledged that the past year tested him in ways he did not expect. “Last year was intense,” he said, adding that he now feels ready to move forward. “This year is going to look different. I promise you that.”
In a longer caption, the singer shared more about what he endured, citing legal trouble, illness and personal loss. “I take full responsibility for my mistakes,” he wrote. “My life was spared when it didn’t have to be, and that changed me.” He also revealed that health issues pushed him to stop drinking and take a hard look at himself.
Family support, he said, made all the difference. Ray J thanked his parents and his sister Brandy, who publicly returned the love in the comments, writing, “I’m here for you always.”
Though Ray J has been at the center of multiple controversies in recent years, he says his focus now is healing and reconnecting with his children.
