Rapper Real Boston Richey will have to wait a few more months before returning to court. His retrial in a federal gun and drug case has been rescheduled for January 27, 2026, after a last-minute delay.
According to legal documents, the trial, originally set to begin September 29, was postponed after the lead prosecutor fell ill while also caring for a sick child.
Richey, real name Jalen Taheen Foster, faces one central charge in the retrial: conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana.
The case stems from a 2023 indictment that named Richey alongside three others… Rayshun “Real Boston Glizzy” Foster, De’Anthony Swatzie, and Jerdy Miller Jr. All four defendants are set to face trial again, with Miller also facing an additional count.
In August, jurors delivered a mixed verdict, acquitting Richey of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking offense. His co-defendant, Glizzy, was also cleared on those exact weapons charges.
After the August verdict, Judge Walker initially allowed Richey to return home with an ankle monitor. But that ruling was reversed almost immediately when U.S. Marshals flagged an outstanding warrant in Texas.
Just days later, on August 25, a Texas judge reinstated Richey’s bond. Instead, his pretrial release was reinstated with stricter conditions, including a curfew and electronic monitoring of his location.
Richey will now face the retrial in January. The proceedings will determine whether he and his co-defendants are found guilty on the marijuana conspiracy charge.
