Real Madrid Have A New Champions League Record After Qualifying For The Last 16

Real Madrid are the only team to have played in 30 Champions League group phases, in other words, all games they have played.

Real Madrid’s 0-3 victory over Sheriff on Wednesday was not any old victory. The win meant they qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League.

Qualifying for the last 16 meant Real Madrid are now the only club to have qualified from the Champions League group stage on 30 occasions. In fact, they have a 100% record as they have always finished in the top two.

Goals from David Alaba, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema saw Madrid take the three points from Moldova. They are top of Group D with 12 points, two more than second placed Inter Milan.

Real Madrid’s next game will be on 7th December at 21:00 CET. That will see the Italians go to the Santiago Bernabeu in a battle for first place.
