Fans of Red Dead Redemption 2 have been speculating for a while now about when they will finally receive a next-gen remaster and be able to play their beloved western RPG in 60 FPS. Now, an unexpected update from Rockstar Games to the RDR2 Steam page has players wondering if a remaster is actually right around the corner.

In a new Steam update from Rockstar (via Synth Potato on X), it appears the Red Dead Redemption 2 game description and details have been officially updated for the first time since 2019, sparking speculation that a remastered version is coming soon to PC and consoles.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Remaster Could Happen Very Soon

Nothing Is Officially Confirmed, But The Steam Update Is A Strong Indicator

The Rockstar Steam update for Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 3 included changes to the game description, removing references to “Red Dead Online” from the thumbnail image, adjusting assets and timestamps, and adding support for new languages.

While the Rockstar Steam update isn’t an official confirmation of the RDR2 remaster’s release date, it’s a strong signal that something exciting is just around the corner. The Steam page has not been updated since 2019, and Rockstar doesn’t typically adjust descriptions on Steam for no reason or out of the blue.

... has players on social media very excited, and has caused a wave of speculation over a new remaster for Red Dead Redemption 2. As Synth Potato also points out, the Oblivion remaster got a surprise release shortly after its Steam page was updated in a similar way, though this is of course speculative as well.

A RDR2 remaster would also follow Rockstar’s pattern of releasing next-gen ports and upgrades for their blockbuster titles, such as GTA and the original Red Dead Redemption. The unexpected update could very well hint at an upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster for consoles and PC, but players will have to be patient for the official announcement from Rockstar.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Remaster Is A No-Brainer

It’s Surprising We Don’t Already Have An RDR2 Remaster

A Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster is a gold mine that Rockstar has been sitting on for a long time now, and it’s easily one of the most desired remasters in modern gaming at the moment. Fans would be absolutely ecstatic to get to play the beloved RPG again in 60 FPS and re-experience the masterpiece in all its glory. There’s no question it would be a massive hit, so the RDR2 remaster is ultimately a question of when, not if.

This most recent update from Rockstar suggests that the remaster could absolutely be coming sooner than players expected, possibly even in the coming weeks. However, despite the exciting update, it’s important to note that there is still no official confirmation of a Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster being released, though players should definitely be on the lookout for another update from Rockstar.
