The Board of Directors of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) has toured the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Nigeria’s first fully automated deep seaport, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen regional maritime cooperation and knowledge sharing in port development.
The visit was led by the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority and President of PMAWCA, Abubakar Dantsoho, who guided the delegation through key operational areas of the facility.
The port, located within the Lekki Free Trade Zone, is strategically positioned as a major logistics and industrial hub, anchoring critical investments such as the Dangote Refinery alongside various other multinational enterprises.
According to Dantsoho, the tour aimed to showcase Nigeria’s expanding maritime infrastructure and reinforce PMAWCA’s commitment to strengthening port efficiency, automation, and regional trade competitiveness across West and Central Africa.
He noted that modern port development remains critical to driving economic growth, expanding cargo handling capacity, and enhancing supply chain resilience within the sub-region.
The delegation included the Secretary-General of PMAWCA, Jean Marie Koffi, and the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Fatima Sugra Tabi’a Mahmood, alongside other senior maritime officials.
