The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a stern warning to domestic airlines to stop informing customers that it takes four weeks to get their tickets refunded, urging passengers to report any erring operator.

Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, Mr Michael Achimugu, explained in a post on X.com on Monday that the NCAA regulations explicitly stipulate a 14-day window for ticket refunds, maintaining that operators cannot change this rule.

“There can’t be two captains-in-command on an aircraft.

“The NCAA regulations are clear about the timeframe for ticket refunds, and it is 14 days. Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023 remains in force. Operators cannot create a different rule in this regard,” Mr Achimugu stated.

He called for a stop to the practice, saying duplicating policies weaken the NCAA and are unjust to passengers.

Mr Achimugu advised passengers to report any airline that insists on processing a ticket refund in four weeks to the NCAA, using the following email addresses: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]
