Resident Evil has several upcoming releases in the works, and one is already playable if you live in the right place. Along with Resident Evil Requiem and the mobile game Resident Evil Survival Unit, the series is also delivering a new arcade game called Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot. True to its name, this game remixes Resident Evil 2 with arcade light gun gameplay.
Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot has now appeared at an Illinois arcade location, as shared by X user Multibrawlr. After debuting in a UK test location, it’s managed to infiltrate a Round1 arcade in Aurora. For those who aren’t lucky enough to live in the vicinity, the Arcade Heroes YouTube channel provides some footage of the game being played.
Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot Is Currently In Testing
The New Arcade Game Hasn’t Gone Wide Yet
Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot will feel familiar to anyone who played the RE2 remake, but the light gun action rebalances the survival experience into something entirely different. The arcade game can also be tackled in co-op thanks to its two-player support.
The Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot cabinet at Round1 is still a testing version, so the final version of the game may differ from what’s currently available. It isn’t expected to launch until late 2026, making this the only way to play the game for a while. There’s also the possibility that a game in testing never reaches a full release, but it seems unlikely that Capcom and Bandai Namco would give up on a new Resident Evil venture unless it has serious problems.
It’s A Good Time To Be A Resident Evil Fan
A Lot Is Happening In 2025 & 2025
Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot may show up at some other Round1 locations early, but I wouldn’t recommend counting on anything beyond the current Aurora installation. Moving arcade cabinets around isn’t exactly easy, and Capcom and Bandai Namco may not see a need to trial the game in any additional venues. Even once Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot has officially been released, it may or may not have an extensive rollout in the States.
At any rate, there’s certainly a lot going on right now for Resident Evil fans. This one is a lot more exciting to me than Survival Unit, and I’d happily make a trip to my semi-local Round1 to try it out if it ever arrives there. Resident Evil has a long history with light gun games and arcade experiences, and it’s nice to see Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot uphold those traditions long after the peak of either format’s popularity.
