Before the tournament kicked off, CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, announced that the WAFCON 2024 winner will head home with a prize money of $1m, while second place goes home with half the winners’ reward.

This means the Nigerian team will receive around ₦1.5bn. It is widely reported that the NFF will pocket about 67% of the fee while the players and staff will have to share from a pool of $330,000.

The sharing percentage between the players and staff are not made known to the general public, and will also be decided by the Nigerian Football Federation.
