The Nigeria Society for Criminology, NSC, has enjoined President Bola Tinubu to without waisting more time review the salaries of other security agencies.
NSC noted that this is necessary in order to boost the morale of the personnel of various security agencies across the country.
NSC President, Professor Oludayo Tade made these declarations while reacting to the recent review of the salaries of armed forces personnel.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu has few days ago announced upward review of the salaries of armed forces personnel.
Tade while reacting, enjoined Tinubu to embark on upward review of the salaries of other security agencies.
Tade explained that the review will go a long way to boost the morale of the security personnel in the country.
The professor of criminology in the statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday urged Tinubu not to delay the review of the salaries of other security agencies.
Tade while commending Tinubu for the review of the salaries of the armed forces personnel, explained that security architecture is a system.
He explained that the President cannot encourage a unit of the system and expect others to be happy.
He advised Tinubu to take proactive steps in order to review the salaries of other security agencies too.
“The security architecture is a system. You cannot encourage a unit of the system and expect others to be happy.
“I appeal to the president Tinubu to do an upward review of salaries for the Police and other paramilitary sister agencies to enhance cooperation, and collaboration and not deepen interagency rivalry. Incentives should be inclusive and make everyone in the system feel important.
“We need to encourage our security agencies not only in salaries, but also training, equipment purchases and other welfare issues.
“Many of the children of fallen heroes are suffering and their families need urgent attention. They need the political will to perform on their duties and deliver. The president may also find a way of recognizing exemplary officers and incentivizing them for their roles in keeping Nigeria secured”.
