‘RHOA’ Star Shamea Morton’s Doctor Fires Back in Court Over ‘Chemical Peel Disaster’ Claims

Shamea Morton’s medical malpractice lawsuit has taken a new turn as the doctor she accused of causing chemical burn injuries formally denied any wrongdoing.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Jing Jing Wong Harris, M.D., responded to Morton’s claims by arguing that the Real Housewives of Atlanta star’s injuries were not the result of negligence. Harris said she was present and supervising when a nurse applied the chemical peel and insisted the procedure was handled appropriately.

Harris acknowledged that Morton complained of discomfort during the treatment and said she immediately used a neutralizing spray in response. She also admitted Morton had an unexpected reaction but rejected responsibility for any lasting damage. The doctor is now asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit in its entirety.

Morton filed suit in 2024, alleging she suffered second-degree burns, blistering and permanent scarring after a chemical peel at Pretty Faces Atlanta. She claimed she cried out in pain and that her condition was made worse because of her skin type and a preexisting fungal diagnosis.

Her attorney previously called the incident “unacceptable and inexcusable” and said they plan to seek full accountability.

Morton is preparing for her return to season 17 of RHOA. She had a rough time during her peach debut season last season after her longtime friendship with Porsha Williams broke down in front of Bravo’s cameras.
