The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has met with the Vice-President of the United States, JD Vance, and the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, over counterterrorism cooperation in West Africa.
The meeting was disclosed in a post on 𝕏 by Secure Nigeria, a social media platform focused on security issues.
According to the platform, the engagement reinforced the partnership between Nigeria and the United States in the fight against terrorism across the region.
Secure Nigeria said President Bola Tinubu appreciated the partnership and continued support of the US government under President Donald Trump.

The platform added, “Africa’s largest democracy isn’t wavering. Nigeria stands as a frontline U.S. partner against ISIS, Boko Haram, and rising terror threats across the Sahel.”
Secure Nigeria said both countries remained committed to defeating terrorism and strengthening regional security cooperation.

In November 2025, Ribadu led a delegation of 10 senior Nigerian government officials to meet with US officials in Washington, DC.
In December 2025, he also received a delegation from the United States Congress in Abuja.
The delegation was led by senior members of the House and included Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart, Norma Torres, Scott Franklin, Juan Ciscomani and Riley Moore.
