National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has blasted the Canadian government for denying visas to General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, and other top military officers.
Ribadu described the move as “disrespectful” and boldly declared that Canada “can go to hell.”
The controversy began when Gen Musa revealed that he and some senior military officers were invited to an event in Canada honoring war veterans, but were denied entry due to visa issues.
Despite half of the delegation receiving visas, the other half, including Musa, were left in limbo.
Musa viewed the incident as a wake-up call for Nigeria to strengthen its sovereignty.
“This is a reminder that we must stand on our own, stand strong as a nation, and refuse to be taken for granted,” he emphasized.
Ribadu commended Musa for speaking out against the issue, stressing that Nigeria must focus on building its own strength rather than seeking validation from foreign nations.
“Even though it’s painful and disrespectful, we are peaceful, we are strong, and I agree with you—it is time to fix our country,” Ribadu said.
The incident has sparked tensions between Nigeria and Canada, with many calling for a reevaluation of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
