The National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Dayo Israel, has inaugurated the Rivers state chapter of the Jagaban Movement, a national grassroots youth mobilisation unit structured into regions, states, LGAs, wards, and polling units.
According to the youth leader, the objective was to mobilise young voters in favour of the party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and other candidates of the party in the general elections.
A statement signed by the media aide to the youth leader, Esther Oyeyinka, said the event took place in Port Harcourt on Wednesday because of the state governor Nyesom Wike’s decision to throw his weight behind the APC presidential candidate.
The statement described the decision as momentous predicated to help Tinubu’s ambition in Rivers state and the South-South region where the governor commands great influence and power.
The youth leader said since the inauguration of the APC National Youth Wing Campaign Council last month in Kaduna state, he has continued his tour of the country to flag-off local youth mobilisation efforts organised under the Jagaban Movement.
He, therefore, urged members of the Rivers state chapter of the movement to prove their mettle and ensure that the party wins the elections in the state.
Dismissing unverified rumours about the health of the party’s presidential candidate, Israel said that the former Lagos governor boasts of ability to work more than any other candidate in the election.
He said his daily trips to different parts of the country to provide insight into his manifesto alongside other meetings with important stakeholders attested to this.
The national youth leader, therefore, charged members of the movement to study the candidate’s manifesto and use the knowledge of same to win the hearts of young people in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Israel also encouraged the smart and effective utilisation of tools made available to them, including the Canvasser’s Record Sheet, a data-gathering tool designed to help the party prosecute the election with up-to-date data on local voting trends and demographics.
The event was attended by Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate of the party who seized the moment to debunk notions of a rumored deal struck with the opposition to aid his emergence at the polls.
