The political tension in Rivers State may be easing following a late-night intervention by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja.

According to The Nation on Monday, the President held talks with the minister of the federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; and other prominent political leaders from the state.

While details of the meeting were not officially disclosed, the report said Governor Fubara later accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the discussions at the Villa.

The report further claimed that Governor Fubara appealed to the former Rivers governor, pledging never to show him disrespect again, an indication of possible reconciliation between the key political actors in the state.
