RIVERS: Cult violence leaves three dead in Oyorokoto community

FRESH cult-related violence has claimed the lives of three people in Oyorokoto community, Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, further escalating tensions in the area.

According to reports, suspected cult members invaded the community in the early hours of yesterday, arriving in a speedboat and attacking specific residences.

Three individuals were killed during the coordinated assault.

The latest incident comes amid ongoing cult supremacy clashes in the area. One person was reportedly killed in Ngo community on Monday, while another fatality occurred in Unyegala community on Sunday.

The renewed violence has heightened fear across Andoni LGA, forcing some residents to flee their homes in search of safety.

Confirming the earlier incidents, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, said the killings in Ngo and Unyegala were linked to clashes between rival cult groups.

She noted that investigations were ongoing and efforts were underway to apprehend those responsible. She however stated that the police were yet to confirm the attack reported in Oyorokoto.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Obolo Youth Coalition in Rivers State, Jonathan Enyina, condemned the killings and called on authorities to take urgent steps to restore peace and security in the affected communities.
