AN explosive device was detonated at the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The blast, which reportedly took place at midnight, shattered the glass of a nearby window.
In response, the Rivers State Police Command has dispatched two security vehicles and personnel to the new GRA area, where normal activities continue to proceed without disruption.
Although relatively unknown in Rivers State, the APP has recently attracted attention after securing and renovating a building in an upscale part of Port Harcourt to serve as its secretariat.
There are allegations that the party has the support of some discontented members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who are dissatisfied with the current management of their party in the state.
This unfortunate incident raises questions about the underlying factors contributing to the party’s newfound prominence in Rivers State.
Neither the party nor the police have commented on the situation.
