The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has come out to say, it will not conduct a bye-election into the Ahoada East Constituency II, because the seat is presently occupied by Rt. Honourable Ehie Edison.
Recall that Edison Ehie, a former Deputy Speaker and a factional speaker of the House during the political crisis, had at the wake of the crisis, resigned his position as the speaker and member of the State Assembly.
However, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Gabriel Yomere while speaking on a radio talk show said the Commission did not accept the resignation of Ehie.
He also added that the State House of Assembly did not equally accept the resignation.
Yomere further disclosed that the only State Constituency, where INEC may likely conduct a bye-election before the end of this year is in Khana Constituency II, which was previously occupied by the Late Dinebary Loloo.
He also assured that INEC would treat every political party equally.
“There will be no preferential treatment to any political parties” , he declared.
