‘Rivers People Are With Fubara’ – Peter Odili

Former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, has stated that the people of the state are with Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the political crisis rocking the state.

Naijaonpoint reports that Odili’s remarks followed the renewed face-off between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Odili assured Fubara that the people of the state are firmly with him, urging him to stand strong.

Odili added that the citizens also acknowledged Governor Fubara as the political leader in the state.

He said, “Your people are with you, and they have asked me to tell you that you are the political leader of Rivers State.

“Rivers people said that wherever you go, we will go with you. Wherever you stand, we will stand with you. You are standing on firm ground. Stand there and hold on to God.”

Meanwhile, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Tuesday cautioned Fubara against escalating his political confrontation with Wike.

Fayose issued the warning during an interview on Arise Television, stressing that reconciliation was a wiser option than prolonged conflict.

The former governor advised Fubara to tread carefully, noting that political battles often come with far-reaching consequences.

Fayose further told the Rivers governor that he could not undermine or neutralise the powers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, regardless of political disagreements.

According to him, the legislature remains a critical arm of government whose authority cannot be wished away.
