The House of Representatives on Monday gave the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), a 48-hour ultimatum to submit the breakdown of major items in the state’s 2025 budget.

The Chairman of the House Ad hoc Committee on Rivers, Julius Ihonvbere, issued the ultimatum at the budget defence session in Abuja.

He said the committee had gone through the N1.48 trillion budget as presented by the sole administrator and raised several issues.

He asked the administrator to submit the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), with a legal document that should precede budget presentation.

Ihonvbere, who is the House Majority Leader, queried the allocation of N24 billion for CCTV cameras to be installed in the state’s government house and demanded the breakdown.

He also queried the allocation of N30 billion for the purchase of gunboats and N23 billion for contingency reserves.

The chairman said the committee also observed and questioned the allocation of state funds to existing federal projects without agreement with the Federal Government for refunds, among others.
