Road House 2 has confirmed a returning character from the 2024 remake, alongside six new cast members to round out the forthcoming sequel. The 2024 Road House remake succeeded on streaming, with Prime Video quickly optioning another movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal’s Elwood Dalton. The second movie will be directed by Ilya Naishuller and written by Will Beall.
Now, Deadline reports that the cast of Road House 2 has expanded, with six professional fighters being added to its roster. The newcomers are Michael Chandler, Michael “Venom” Page, Dustin Poirier, Stephen Thompson, Rico Verhoeven, and Tyron Woodle. In addition, Jay Heiron will be returning as Jax “Jetway” Harris, a UFC fighter first introduced in the remake.
Nothing has been revealed about the characters the six fighters will be portraying. This aligns with how the story of Road House 2 is being kept under wraps. Gyllenhaal is set to return as Dalton, though his story remains unknown. However, other new cast members include Leila George, Aldis Hodge, and Dave Bautista, rounding out the important characters in the movie.
All six fighters have proven themselves fitting for the cast of Road House thanks to their professional accomplishments. Chandler is a UFC fighter who has been a Fight of the Night and Fight of the Year achiever multiple times, alongside a UFC title contender. Page is a British MMA fighter and former kickboxing champion, also currently in the UFC.
Poirier is a former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion, while Thompson is an MMA fighter currently in the UFC’s welterweight division. Verhoeven is a 13-time reigning Glory heavyweight fighter who’s held the heavyweight world champion title for more than 10 years, considered “The King of Kickboxing.” Woodley is a five-time UFC Welterweight Champion who’s fought Jake Paul twice.
Verhoeven and Woodley in particular are no strangers to screen presence. Verhoeven appeared as Moss in the 2018 movie Kickboxer: Retaliation, and most recently appeared as Vigo in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. Woodley starred as Akala in Escape Plan 2: Hades, with his newest role being Sensei Odel in Cobra Kai season 5.
Although there haven’t been any details yet about the plot, the addition of so many UFC fighters in Road House 2, alongside Heiron’s return, indicates a much larger scale for the sequel. Since filming is planned to happen in the U.K., Malta, and Savannah, Georgia, it only makes sense for such a massive follow-up to include plenty of heavy hitters.
