In a new interview with Akademiks, Harlem rapper ASAP Rocky opened up about a line from “Show of Hands,” his collaboration with Metro Boomin and Future, that many fans believed referenced Drake’s past relationship drama.
Rocky now says bringing a woman into the exchange crossed a line for him.
“I said what I said, and I shouldn’t have because it was petty,” Rocky shared. “I was being messy by putting another woman in it. That’s corny.”
He explained that while he wanted to defend himself, the lyric did not sit right with him afterward. “I thought about it and I probably could have left that out,” he said. “I just needed n—as to know.”
Rocky confirmed that he and Drake did speak privately at one point, but tensions still spilled into music. “The n—a was talking about my girl,” he said, adding that their once friendly relationship slowly unraveled.
“I thought we was friends too,” Rocky continued. “Next thing I know, shots been flying for years. Be happy for a n—a, man. Chill out. Life don’t revolve around you.”
