THE 2025 edition of Rotary International’s World Peace and Understanding Day is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 26, in Lagos.

The event will feature a symposium focused on ending hunger, with the theme “Peace Through Partnerships: Ending Hunger Together”.

The symposium, set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Henry Fajemirokun Hall of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will feature a keynote address by Mrs. Edobong Akpabio, Executive Director of Greenport Impact Cluster Nigeria Limited. Samson Ogbole, Founder of Soiless Farm Lab, and Dr. Olanrewaju Lateef Yusuf, Lecturer at Lagos State University, will also participate as panelists.

Rotary International has designated February as Peace Building and Conflict Prevention month, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to promoting peace, understanding, and conflict resolution globally.

The event’s significance is underscored by the urgent need for collaboration in addressing hunger, a pressing global challenge.

As Rotarian Toki Mabogunje noted, “Every step we take together brings us closer to a greater future. Let’s all share the goal of ending hunger and promoting peace for a better tomorrow.”

The event is expected to draw thought leaders, change-makers, and advocates for peace, conflict resolution, and food security from various sectors.
