Created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland, and Amy Poehler, ‘Russian Doll’ is a science fiction comedy-drama series. It follows software engineer Nadia Vulvokov (Lyonne) as she finds herself trapped in a time loop. Every time she dies, she returns to the same bathroom on her 36th birthday. She soon discovers that she is not the only one caught in the loop and meets Alan, who is forced to relive arguably the worst day of his life time and again. In season 2, Nadia begins traveling through time while taking the subway and ends up in her mother’s body while the latter is pregnant with her.

Following its premiere on February 1, 2019, ‘Russian Doll’ received mostly positive responses. Both the critics and the fans praised the show’s concept, the unique execution of the generic trope like the time loop, and the performances of the cast. The second season of ‘Russian Doll’ has recently begun streaming. If you are wondering whether there will be a season 3, we got you covered.

Russian Doll Season 3 Release Date

‘Russian Doll’ season 2 premiered in its entirety on April 20, 2022, on Netflix. It comprises seven episodes with a runtime of 25-34-minute each.

As for season 3, here’s what we know. Neither the producers nor the Netflix executives have yet confirmed the development of a third season. However, in their original pitch to the streaming giant, Lyonne and her co-creators mentioned that the show would have three seasons. “We pitched Netflix three seasons of the most bonkers, heartfelt, passionate, this-is-what-we-truly-feel-like-is-our-story-to-tell idea,” Headland revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. “And they said: ‘Great, the more of that, the better. The more you guys this can be, the better. Here are the resources and the support — take off.’”

In August 2019, after the show was renewed for a second season, Lyonne told the same outlet that their plan hadn’t changed much. However, she did indicate that it could change in the future. The actress insinuated that ‘Russian Doll’ might end up having just two or four seasons in total. “In many ways, yes [answering a question about whether she still sees the show as a three-season series],” Lyonne mentioned.

Lyonne continued, “I see it quite concretely, and it will be interesting to see what evolves… I know there has to be space left open for something beyond my limited imagination in this moment to know if that is still where the series begins, middles and ends. Maybe it’s only two seasons. Maybe it’s four seasons. Right now, it feels quite clearly that it is those three.” Ultimately, it all comes down to how successful the second season turns out to be. If season 2 manages to replicate the viewership number of the inaugural season, there is a legitimate chance that ‘Russian Doll’ would be renewed for yet another outing.

While the second season has a wholesome conclusion, the narrative has enough elements that can be explored in season 3. The intermediate period between the release of the first two seasons was over three years. This happened because production was affected by the COVID-19 situation. With most of the population now vaccinated, this shouldn’t be an issue during the filming of season 3. Considering all this, if the renewal happens within the next few months, ‘Russian Doll’ season 3 will probably come out sometime in 2023.

Russian Doll Season 3 Cast: Who can be in it?

Aside from Lyonne as Nadia, ‘Russian Doll’ season 2 stars Brooke Timber (Young Nadia), Charlie Barnett (Alan Zaveri), Greta Lee (Maxine), Rebecca Henderson (Lizzy), Elizabeth Ashley (Ruth Brenner), Ritesh Rajan (Farran), Brendan Sexton III (Horse), and Chloë Sevigny (Lenora Vulvokov). The cast also includes Annie Murphy (Young Ruth), Sharlto Copley (Chezare Carrera), and Agnes (Carolyn Michelle Smith).

Although Ashley and Murphy’s respective characters die in season 2, time functions unconventionally in ‘Russian Doll,’ so they might return in the prospective season 3. The rest of the cast will probably reprise their roles and be joined by new members. Actors from the first season can make a return as well.

Russian Doll Season 3 Plot: What can it be About?

In the season 2 finale, both Nadia and Alan learn to let go of their past and decide to look forward to their future. Nadia returns her infant self to her mother while Alan speaks to his grandmother. After the very fabrics of time stop falling apart and return to normal, Nadia attends Ruth’s wake. The second season ends with Nadia in the bathroom from season 1.

In the prospective season 3, Nadia might face a new time-related issue that will potentially lead her on another journey of self-discovery. Alan might inevitably become involved in it. Furthermore, we can expect the potential third season to offer an explanation for the wormhole-like thing that has manifested inside the bathroom from the first season.

The season finale, titled ‘Tarrare,’ sees Van running into an old friend, Candice, on the streets of Paris. While Van gives Candice and her friends a peek into her new life, Candice quickly realizes that something is wrong with Van.

After an eerie dinner, Van finally confronts her feelings leading to some major changes moving forward. Therefore, viewers must be curious to learn more about the conclusion of the third season and its implications for Van’s future. In that case, here is everything you need to know about the ending of ‘Atlanta’ season 3 episode 10! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Atlanta Season 3 Finale Recap

The season 3 finale, titled ‘Tarrare,’ opens with Candice and her friends, Xosha and Shanice, having lunch in a Paris restaurant. While the friends discuss a recent exotic experience Candice had, they talk about doing something fun for the day. While having lunch, Candice recognizes a woman at a nearby shop. She greets the woman who turns out to be her friend from Atlanta, Vanessa “Van” Keefer. However, Van fails to recognize Candice at first and speaks in a fake French accent. However, the two friends reunite, and Candice introduces Van to Xosha and Shanice.

After a quick chat, Van invites the three women to her home. At Van’s apartment, Candice learns that Van has done some minor modeling work and dated Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård. Soon, Van remembers that she has to run some errands and offers to take Candice and her friends with her on a trip across Paris. The ladies first arrive at Skarsgård’s hotel, where Van places drugs in his bedroom and informs the hotel reception that Skarsgård is overdosing. Candice tries to stop Van, but the latter insists it’s merely a prank.

In a shady neighborhood, Van is cornered by a group of goons who refer to her as “Tarrare.” As the men threaten Van, she and her friends narrowly manage to escape. Van then takes the ladies to a museum, where she threatens curator Emilio and demands a package. Emilio insists that the package is not meant for her, but he can arrange more. An enraged Van beats Emilio with a hardened baguette. She then claims the package before leaving the museum. Van takes the ladies to an exclusive restaurant where she works with her boyfriend, Marcel. Realizing that Van is acting extremely out of character, Candice decides to confront her friend.

Atlanta Season 3 Finale Ending: Will Van Return to Atlanta?

Towards the end of the episode, Candice discusses Van’s behavior with Xosha and Shanice. However, the two women do not agree with Candice’s decision to confront her friend. Instead, they join the exclusive dinner party. Meanwhile, Van works on preparing the meals in the kitchen. Candice confronts Van about her drastic personality change and arrogant behavior. However, Van counters that Candice is merely jealous because she is no more the cooler friend among the two.

Moreover, Van insists that she has a plan and is happy with her new life in Paris. She is in love with Marcel, and the two are planning to get married. However, when Candice questions Van about her daughter, Lottie, Van has an emotional breakdown. After Van calms down, Candice hugs her, and the two discuss Van’s feelings. Van explains that she is struggling to find her place in the world and lacks a sense of self-assurance in her life. She claims that she is unaware of who she is as a person and feels a need to discover her true self. These feelings drove her to Europe. One night after watching ‘Amélie,’ Van moved to Paris and re-designed her life. However, things did not pan out as she expected.

In the end, Van remarks that she must go home. Van’s Europe trip is a key plot of the show’s third season, and the finale depicts the culmination of her emotional turmoil. Van has struggled to figure out who she is outside her motherhood and on/off relationship with Earn. Therefore, while Van’s decision to move to Paris appears drastic, it is an understandable choice. However, it brings Van to the realization that she cannot escape her responsibilities as a mother to Lottie. The same is evident after Van breaks down when Candice questions where Lottie will fit into Van’s new life. Ultimately, Van decides to return to her life in Atlanta, but her journey of self-discovery is far from over.

Who Is Candice In Atlanta Season 3? How Does She Know Van?

Published

on

ATL Ep10 RDM 1160r 1

‘Atlanta‘ season 3 takes Earn, Alfred, Darius, and Van to Europe, where they have several unique cultural exchanges and personal experiences. The narrative occasionally shifts focus from the gang to standalone stories of socio-cultural importance. Therefore, there is little scope for supporting characters from the previous season to return to our screens. However, the third season finale brings back one familiar face as it expands on Van’s character arc.

Van runs into her friend, Candice, setting up a series of surprising incidents that depict Van’s drastic personality change. However, Candice is the only one to notice these changes. Given Candice’s importance to the narrative, viewers must be curious to learn more about the character and her relationship with Van. In that case, we’ve got you covered! Here is everything you need to know about Candice in ‘Atlanta’ season 3! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Who Is Candice?

Candice is a friend of Vanessa “Van” Keefer (Zazie Beetz), who is visiting Paris with her friends Xosha and Shanice. She appears in the season 3 finale of ‘Atlanta,’ titled ‘Tarrare.’ In the episode, while having lunch with her friends, Candice recognizes a woman at a nearby shop as Van. While Van struggles to recognize her friend at first, she soon realizes that it is Candice. However, viewers will remember this is not Candice’s first appearance on the show.

The character first appears in the seventh episode of the show’s second season, titled ‘Champagne Papi.’ In the series, actress Adriyan Rae essays the role of Candice. The actress is known for her performances as Elida in the sci-fi series ‘Vagrant Queen’ and Gianna Mackey in the drama series ‘Chicago Fire.’ The season 3 finale marks Rae’s second appearance on ‘Atlanta,’ making her the only recurring cast member from previous seasons to appear in the third season.

How Does Candice Know Van?

Candice is a friend of Van, and they have known each other since their time in Atlanta. However, not much is known about how Candice and Van met each other. In the second season, it is established that Van and Candice have known each other for a while and are close friends. Candice works as an influencer and is usually very self-absorbed. In the seventh episode of season 2, Candice and Van attend a party hosted by Drake. Candice is aware of Van’s struggles with self-identity and her love for her daughter, Lottie.

In the third season finale, Van has moved to Paris and starts a new life by drastically changing her personality. She and Candice reunite after a long time, and Van’s new personality is quite a shocker for Candice. However, in the end, Candice decides to confront her friend about her reckless behavior. Eventually, Van snaps out of her illusion and opens up about her emotional issues. After some consolation from Candice, Van decides to return to Atlanta. Thus, by bringing Candice back into the narrative, the series crafts a unique look into Van’s emotional distress and journey of self-discovery. Moreover, the episode also provides Candice with some character growth as she sheds her self-absorbed personality and helps Van return to her senses.
