Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar will lead Valencia’s attack in their LaLiga game against Osasuna at Estadio El Sadar on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sadiq left Real Sociedad and joined Valencia in the January transfer window due to a lack of game time. However, after just over a month at the club, he has yet to break into the first team. Coach Carlos Corberan has often preferred Hugo Duro, who has been at the club since 2021.
Sadiq has had his opportunities off the bench and even got to start twice against Barcelona and the last game against Atletico Madrid as Duro was not fully fit.
Now according to reports from Eldesmarque, Sadiq is set to start for Valencia when they play Osasuna on Sunday. This is as Duro is still struggling to reach full fitness.
Why Sadiq Umar needs to pick
Sadiq Umar will not get too many chances to prove that he deserves to start at Valencia. Osasuna is a beatable side for Los Ches, as nine points separate them on the Spanish La Liga table.
If Sadiq grabs a goal on Sunday, he will surely put coach Corberan in a difficult position heading into the next run of games. In fact, it would mean a significant increment in his game time. And that is what Sadiq needs.
Valencia currently sit 18th in La Liga, and a win would obviously do them a lot of good.
