Samsung might launch a new Fan Edition (FE) series smartphone soon. The company launched the Galaxy S21 FE back in January 2022 as its last Galaxy FE smartphone. There was no Galaxy S22 FE, giving some weight to rumours of Samsung discontinuing its affordable flagship smartphone series. However, new rumours suggest that the Galaxy Fan Edition series phones are not dead yet. Samsung might launch the Galaxy S23 FE later this year. A new report has revealed the battery specifications and some other details of the Galaxy S23 FE. The device has reportedly been spotted on the South Korea authority’s certification website for safety of electrical and electronic equipment, SafetyKorea, ahead of its debut. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Launch: What is Known So Far?
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE might actually launch later this year. The phone’s battery has reportedly cleared the SafetyKorea certification. According to GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S23 FE’s battery, which has the model number EB-BS711ABY, has been spotted on the certification website. A battery with such a model name belongs to a phone with model number SM-S711, which allegedly is the Galaxy S23 FE.
Unfortunately, the certification does not reveal the capacity of the S23 FE’s battery. However, it is being speculated that the phone might pack a 4500mAh battery.
Separately, a report by WinFuture, citing data from import-export databases, revealed some details about prototypes of the alleged device. A Galaxy S23 FE variant with the model number SM-711B, which allegedly is the European variant, explicitly mentions “S23 FE”. In addition to this, the database also reveals that the Galaxy S23 FE will feature a 50MP main camera sensor. The entries were not recorded until the end of April 2023, shortly after the first manufacturing tools and components were recorded in the same databases. “ Normally, it takes at least three months for a new Samsung smartphone to actually go on sale after the first mention in these databases,” the report added.

Therefore, it seems like the Galaxy S23 FE will not launch at next month’s Unpacked event and is more likely to debut in August or September. Samsung has not confirmed any details about the launch of the Galaxy S23 FE yet. Therefore, it is advised to take the leaked launch timeline details with a pinch of salt.
Some other details about the Galaxy S23 FE have leaked as well. The phone is likely to feature an Exynos 2200 SoC under the hood. On the contrary, the Galaxy S23 series features the custom-developed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz. Samsung has often used the same chipset in its flagship series and the Fan Edition variant of the same. However, to keep costs low, while ensuring the flagship phones have further differentiation, it looks like Samsung will use its in-house, less efficient Exynos 2200 SoC for the S23 FE.
