Samsung tipped to launch a tri-folding device this year
Samsung could unveil a tri-folding device later this year.
Tipster @heyitsyogesh claims in a tweet that Samsung might finally ship the tri-folding device this year alongside the Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5. The tipster added that the Galaxy S23 FE is not in the development chain despite rumours of the device launching this year.
Samsung has hinted over the years that it is working on tri-folding and rollable devices. In November 2020, Samsung Display published sketches on its blog which reveal a device with a tri-folding display and another with a rollable display.
The company confirmed in January 2021 that it is developing innovative form factors such as rollable and sliding displays to strengthen its presence in the market. Nikkei Asia claimed in March that year that Samsung could debut a double-folding phone.
GizmoChina shared in April 2021 that Samsung is developing a tri-folding tablet which could launch as the Galaxy Z Fold Tab. In May 2021, Samsung Display announced a new range of foldable displays which includes the S-Foldable OLED panel, the Slidable OLED panel, and a 17-inch foldable display. Earlier this year, Samsung demonstrated a prototype folding phone hinge that can rotate 360 degrees.
