Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Samuel Mariere has been lauded for engaging critical stakeholders in the primary education sector, saying that the move would stimulate more interest in the development of primary education in the State.
Hon. Mariere received the commendation when he visited Sapele, headquarters of Sapele Local Government Area, in continuation of his visit to various Local Government Areas of the State to meet with primary school stakeholders.
The Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Sapele Local Government, Mr. Victor Osai Okpue, who received the SUBEB boss and his team to the council, expressed optimism that his engagements with key stakeholders in all the local government areas of the State would produce positive outcomes.
While lauding the executive chairman of the board for piloting the initiative, the Sapele HPM called for a more collaborative efforts towards the development of primary education which he described as the basic.
Meanwhile, the SUBEB executive chairman, Hon. Samuel Mariere has announced that plans were underway to acknowledge the contributions of School Based Management Committees (SBMCs) efforts for improved learning outcomes in schools by way of awards for outstanding performance.
Mariere made the disclosure while commending the SBMC Chairman of Ugbukurusu community, Evang. Friday Ajan, for his unwavering commitment to the development of primary education in his community.
The commendation came on the heels of discovery by the team that prior before the recent approval for the recruitment of primary school teachers across the state by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Ugbukurusu community SBMC Chairman had personally engaged three teachers in the community primary school at his own expense.
Mariere who met with education Secretaries, community leaders, head teachers, SBMC chairmen and members, non academic staff of primary schools in Sapele and Ethiope West, reiterated the commitment of governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in fostering and strengthening the quality of primary education in the State in line with his MORE agenda.
While saying that public primary schools in the state boost of some of the best teaching facilities, infrastructures and professionally trained personnels, Hon. Mariere maintained that the Delta State government was determined in improving the quality and standard of education in the State, just as he sued for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders.
