United Kingdom-based actress cum singer/songwriter, Scarlet Gabriel, has set Abuja agog with her new single, Cash Out. Streaming heavily on digital platforms across the world, the single was produced in collaboration with Afrobeats star, Rayce and Big Suni’s Black Wall Street.
Scarlet, who is visiting Nigeria for the first time, described her time in the country as fun-filled. “I am having an amazing time in Nigeria and I’m happy to finally see the land of so many of my friends. Nigeria is a land we hear so much about in the UK, so it’s great to be finally here,” she said.
Acclaimed for her powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence, she is inspired by her rich background in African, Caribbean and world music. She described her musical style as eclectic, celebrating diversity while maintaining her unique approach characterized by intricate harmonies and candid expression.
Aside from music, the actress-singer is also recognised for her roles in premier West End and Broadway productions like Kinky Boots, Ghost, Mamma Mia! The Party, Six, and Waitress. Her extensive touring has brought her to far flung destinations like Italy, Belgium, Romania, China, South Pacific Islands and Australia among others. In addition, she has made television appearances across all major UK networks including BBC1, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, as well as SKY1 and MTV Base.
During the Sallah weekend, she performed back-to-back at Big Suni’s birthday bash in Abuja. According to her, the response to her performances at the Abuja hotspots was amazing. “Everyone was on their feet, dancing, smiling and clapping to Cash Out along with other songs I made whilst in Nigeria. Everyone kept dancing like they’d heard the songs before. It was a very special moment for me” she enthused.
On her expectations for Cash Out for which a video has just been shot, Scarlet said: “I hope everyone receives the song well, adds it to their party playlists and streams it non-stop. I also hope the DJs continue to play it in the clubs, and people enjoy both the song and the video.”
Having just completed a collaboration with YoYo Ovi, the London-based entertainer is now looking forward to more performances and collaborations with Nigerian musicians.
“My Nigerian experience has been amazing and I would absolutely love to keep collaborating with talented Nigerian artistes as well as bringing their voices to my UK fan base. I would love to be invited back to Nigeria to perform and even do an African tour.”
