Nigerian politician and husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, Prince Odi Okojie, had come under fire over the school building project he is renovating in his hometown in Uromi.
The Edo State politician has been renovating the Our Lady of Lourdes Girls Grammar School, Uromi, under the auspices of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC).
Sharing clips of the inspection on his Instagram page, he expressed his pleasure with the progress. He stated that the initiative encompasses the construction of the Art Science Laboratory, renovation and furnishing of classroom blocks, construction, furnishing, and equipping of the Art ICT building, supply and installation of three 10KVA inverter systems, provision of a borehole and overhead tank, provision of solar street lights, and external works.
Prince Okojie said his impetus to champion this project stemmed from his poignant reflections on his own childhood and the profound impact this institution has had on countless girls.
The renovation of the school drew mixed reactions, as while some applauded it, others criticised it.
