Seven dead, 11 injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

A road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway yesterday night, killed seven people and injured 11 others.

The incident which occurred at 9:33 p.m. yesterday, involved two vehicles: a truck with no registration number and a Mazda bus with registration number MNY894 YN.

A spokesman for the Ogun State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, stated, “The probable cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the Madza bus driver, who rammed into a moving truck from the rear.

“The injured victims were taken to PATMAG Hospital Ogere for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS mortuary Ipara.”

The FRSC sympathized with the victims’ families and urged passengers to remain vigilant in order to address any mistakes made by drivers.

The Corps also advised motorists to avoid speeding and to follow common sense speed limits, especially at night and in the rain due to poor visibility.
