At least seven passengers sustained injuries when armed bandits attacked commercial vehicles in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Security sources said the attack occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on September 10, when dozens of gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles blocked the road between Kogoho Lambar Tofa and Kogogo Rijiya villages in Rabah District.

Counter-insurgency expert and security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

He reported that the bandits opened fire on three commercial vehicles conveying passengers from Achida Market to Rabah town.

According to Makama, the drivers refused to stop and managed to escape, but seven passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA were later deployed to the area and engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to retreat with possible bullet wounds.

The injured victims were taken to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) for treatment.
