Spanish Laliga club Sevilla are weighing up a move for Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar in January, Soccernet.ng reports.
Los Nervioneses are looking to bolster their attack, as they push for a good placement in the league at the end of the season.
Their two strikers Akor Adams and Isaac Romero have been good, but they have not been consistent enough.
This season, Adams has two goals and one assist in seven game, while Romero has three goals in eight games.
However, Sevila are looking to get another attacking threat. According to Vamos MI Sevilla, Los Nervioneses are eyeing Sadiq.
Can Sevilla Snatch Sadiq Umar From Real Sociedad?
Sadiq Umar has struggled for minutes at Real Sociedad this season. In fact, he has only featured in two games, both of which were off the bench.
The 28-year-old striker used to be one of the best strikers in Spain until he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury three years ago. Since then, he has not reach his former level.
He showed glimpses of his old self last season, during a loan spell at Valencia, when he contributed five goals in 16 Laliga games.
He even wanted to stay there permanently at the expiration of his loan, but the deal did not go through.
As it is, Real Sociedad will be willing to sell Sadiq. He has a contract that lasts until 2028, and for a player who doesn’t play much, he is one of the highest paid at the club.
If the move works out, Sadiq will be the third Nigerian player on Sevilla’s roster, after Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.
