Shareholders Race to Chams N3.99bn Rights Issue Ahead of Deadline

Chams Plc

The N3.992 billion rights issue of Chams Holding Company (Chams Holdco) Plc seems to be witnessing a last minute rush as the deadline of the exercise draws closer.

Feelers from industry sources indicated that some shareholders of the company are in talks with their stockbrokers on how they can partake in it.

The rights issue of Chams opened on Friday, August 8, 2025, and is expected to close on Friday, September 12, 2025, according to details of the transaction, except it is extended on the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the apex regulatory body of the Nigerian capital market.

Chams is offering through the rights issue a total of 2,348,030,000 ordinary shares of 50 Kobo each at N1.70 per share on the basis of one new ordinary share for every two ordinary shares held as of the close of business on Monday, June 16, 2025.

Proceeds of the exercise would be used to improve the operational capacity of the organisation and drive innovation across its identity management, transaction switching, and payment solutions businesses.

Business Post reports that the price of the rights issue is cheaper than its closing price today, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, N2.96 per unit.

With more than 39 years of experience, Chams operates through four key subsidiaries—ChamSwitch, ChamsAccess, ChamsMobile, and CardCentre.

The firm delivers cutting-edge solutions in biometric ID, card services, digital payments, and financial inclusion.

Notably, ChamsAccess secured over N900 million in supply deals, while ChamsMobile continues to deliver mobile money, agency banking, and pensioner verification solutions licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
