Nollywood actress Mide Martins has been dragged by her colleagues who are demanding their share from her latest movie.
In a video captured online, Obatide Kelvin and Debbie Shokoya, were on set with the movie star, as they demanded their share of the movie’s revenue.
According to Obatide, Mide’s movie, IYA, had earned N500 million on YouTube. The actor, on behalf of her supporters and Omoonile, had demanded N3 million from the money. He noted how the actress made half a billion and shouldn’t be stingy giving out N3 million.
“This woman has made N500 million from her movie on YouTube, and it has been confirmed. So we, the association of Omoonile and her supporters that have supported her to a large extent, that it is even conspicuous to the blind, have come to take our N3 million. You have made over N500 million; giving me N3 million isn’t an issue”.
Concurring with him, Debbie said Martins indeed made N500 million, and anyone can quote her.
“I am telling you. She has made over N500 million; quote me anywhere”.
While on the movie set, Mide and her cast were seen shedding tears. The wife of Afeez said shooting the scene was so powerful that they couldn’t hold back their tears. She added that as mothers, they felt the depth of the situation.
Mide has undoubtedly grown over the years, becoming a household name and one of the biggest Yoruba Nollywood stars.
Last year, Martins had been left overwhelmed after winning Best Actress for the second time. The mother of two thanked her Maker for her journey in the industry. She appreciated Odunlade for always supporting her craft and honouring her, and also appreciated her husband, Afeez Owo, for being the best.
In 2024, Mide won the Best Actress award at Odunlade Adekola Film Production. While receiving the award, Martins admitted that the journey hadn’t been easy as she appreciated God for the strength and ability to do what she does. She also appreciated her husband for being there for her since she lost her mother as she stated that she is nothing without him.
In 2023, Mide couldn’t keep calm after winning the ‘Face of Nollywood’. Expressing gratitude to her millions of fans and supporters, Mide dedicated the award to everyone who believes in her.
Some years back, the Yoruba actress, had recounted a near-death experience she had while on the set of a movie production. She recounted the pains she had to endure to give her fans the best, as she revealed how she almost lost her brain while on set.
