Shettima To Attend Mutfwang’s APC Reception In Plateau

The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that Vice President, Kashim Shettima, will lead a delegation of top party figures to the state on Tuesday for the formal reception of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the ruling party.

The formal reception follows Mutfwang’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on December 29, 2025, in a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area.

In the letter, the governor cited changing political realities and his personal commitment to effective leadership and service delivery as reasons for the shift in political platform.

Confirming the visit on Monday during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) headquarters, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, said Vice President Shettima will act as the Special Guest of Honour at the reception.

Wase also listed other prominent APC leaders expected to attend, including, National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Several APC‑elected governors and other party leaders.

Wase appealed to residents of Plateau State to ensure orderliness ahead of the event.

“We urge residents, party supporters, and well‑wishers to conduct themselves peacefully, lawfully, and responsibly, in a manner that reflects the enduring values of unity, civility, and peaceful coexistence for which Plateau State is proudly known,” he stated.

He stressed that the reception is a statewide event belonging to all Plateau people and its success depends on “our collective commitment to orderliness, mutual respect, and cooperation with security agencies and event officials.”
