Khalid is speaking honestly about a painful chapter in his life, the moment his sexuality was made public without his consent.

Last year, the star’s private life made headlines when model Hugo Almonte, Khalid’s former partner, revealed intimate details about their relationship online.

Now, as Khalid promotes his new album After the Sun Goes Down, he’s using his voice to share how he’s found peace and pride in the aftermath. During an appearance on Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, the artist reflected on the emotional toll of being outed.

“There was so much embarrassment at first,” Khalid admitted. “People expected me to disappear, to hide. But I thought, no — I’m gay, it happened, and I’m still here.”

The singer explained that coming to terms with such a public revelation wasn’t easy. “When someone takes away your right to tell your own story, it can feel like everything’s spinning,” he said. “But I realized the only thing I could control was how I moved forward.”

Back in November 2024, Almonte made explosive claims about their relationship on social media including allegations of a breakup turned bitter. The online drama left Khalid blindsided. Still, he’s determined not to let the scandal define him.

“I’ve learned that healing is loud,” he shared with a smile. “And honestly, I’m proud of the person I’m becoming.”
