A skitmaker, Sanku Olaniyi, popularly known as Mrsankucomedy, has died in a car accident with his friend along the Oyo–Ogbomoso expressway in Ibadan.
According to The Nation, the fatal incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.
He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Sanku began his comedy career in 2021 and rose to fame in 2024 after releasing a freestyle video that garnered over 70,000 views.
His unique style and humor quickly earned him a loyal fan base.
Since the news of his death broke, bloggers, influencers and fans have taken to social media platforms like X and Instagram to express their grief.
Meanwhile, there was tension in the Lakowe community of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State after a skit maker, identified simply as Austin, was gruesomely murdered with machete cuts.
Punch gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 14, when suspected cultists stormed the community.
Eyewitnesses told the platform that the assailants invaded Austin’s residence, dragged him out of his apartment, and hacked him to death on the spot.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the attackers also chopped off one of Austin’s hands.
“There was some sort of commotion early Thursday morning, but no one knew what it was. It wasn’t until later in the morning that we were told someone’s corpse was lying somewhere around the community. When we got there, we discovered that it was Austin’s corpse. We also saw his hand severed. That was when we realised it was connected to the noise we heard early in the morning,” the source said.
Findings further revealed that the deceased, who was also a professional hairstylist, had expressed fears of his impending death shortly before the attack.
Another resident disclosed that Austin left a cryptic farewell message on his social media status.
“Austin was a popular hairstylist and very good at it. He was also a skit maker and had some entertainers as friends. Those close to him said he knew he was going to die due to a post on his WhatsApp status the day before,” the resident said.
