Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S25 Ultra listed on Geekbench

Samsung will launch the Galaxy S25 series early next year. As usual, the company is going all-in on the Ultra model. Leaks have revealed some key details of the device. The highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Ultra has now appeared on Geekbench listings, confirming some details and potential performance.

The device that surfaced on Geekbench has the model number SM-S938U. The report indicates that it could be the US variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, so it is powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The benchmark results revealed the device’s scores in single-core and multi-core tests.

In Geekbench, the Galaxy S25 Ultra achieved scores of 3,069 and 9,080 for single-core and multi-core, respectively. While the hardware is powerful, the results are below what we’ve seen in leaked benchmarks of the same chip in other devices. For example, a OnePlus 13 tested on the same platform scored around 3,263 and 10,059 points for the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

Note that the leaked benchmarks may have been done on early device versions. Phone brands work until the last minute to optimize the hardware to achieve the best possible performance. Anyway, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Geekbench results indicate that it will be a powerhouse, as it should.

Geekbench shows that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has a base clock speed of 2.90 GHz and a maximum of 4.19 GHz. These speeds correspond to the “weakest” cores and the most powerful ones, respectively. The new SoC from Qualcomm is reportedly not using energy-efficient cores. It will use high-performance cores for everyday tasks, but at a lower frequency. Plus, we are talking about custom Oryon cores, first seen in Snapdragon X chips for ARM laptops.

No RAM bump for the next “Galaxy Ultra” flagship

Interestingly, Geekbench lists the chip as ARM V8-based, but it is expected to use the ARMv9.2-A instruction set. This could be an error on the platform. The tested Galaxy S25 features 12GB of RAM, which may disappoint those who were expecting a RAM bump, especially in the AI ​​era. Lastly, the device runs Android 15, and reports suggest that Samsung will debut One UI 7.1 in the lineup.
