Troops of sector 5 under Operation PEACE SHIELD have rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition and ransom money after an operation in Kaduna state.
The army said the operation followed the abduction of several women from their farms at Ungwan Nungu in Sanga LGA on 29 November 2025.
It said the troops launched an immediate search-and-rescue mission and made contact with the kidnappers at 0640 hours on 5 December 2025 as the criminals attempted to receive ransom payment from relatives of the victims.
The army said the troops applied “superior firepower”, forcing the kidnappers to flee into the surrounding forests and abandon the hostages.
It said all the victims, one adult man, three male children, three elderly women and three female children, were rescued unharmed and have been debriefed and reunited with their families.
It added that the troops recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 9mm ammunition and ₦1,600,000 identified as part of the ransom money.
The army reiterated its commitment to protect citizens, deny criminals freedom of action and ensure that communities can live and work in peace.
