Sony sets ambitious goal for its PlayStation VR2 headset
Sony is optimistic about consumer demand for its PlayStation VR2 headset in 2023.
Sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Sony plans to manufacture two million units of the headset by March 2023. Mass production is said to have started last month with no sign of any supply chain constraints.
Sony shared in August that the PlayStation VR2 headset will be available in early 2023. It is believed to have an OLED display, up to 120Hz refresh rates, a 110-degree field of vision and inside-out eye-tracking. There is an exclusive VR game title from Guerrilla Games’ Horizon series coming to the PlayStation VR2 headset.
With the global economy slowing down, rising inflation and supply chain disruptions from the Ukraine conflict, it remains to be seen if consumers are willing to spend on the Sony PlayStation VR2.
