Kingmakers in Ogbomosoland have commenced traditional rites in preparedness for the installation of Pastor Afolabi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomosoland.
The traditional rites, as reliably informed commenced at the early hours of Friday at the palace of Soun.
NAIJAONPOINT.COM.NG reports that an Oyo State High Court had issued a restraining order prohibiting Governor Seyi Makinde, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters from presenting any instrument of office or conducting any ceremony to install Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Oladunni Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso land.
A palace source told our correspondent that the rites are in accordance with the customs and traditions of the land.
According to the source, the traditional rites will lead to the installation of the new monarch.
The new monarch has not been installed but the preparation has started with the traditional rites.
The court order will remain in effect until the mandatory injunction is filed before the court is heard and finally determined.
The ruling was made by Justice K.A Adedokun in response to a motion ex-parte filed by Prince Muhammed Kabir Olaoye, one of the contenders for the Soun of Ogbomoso stool.
Justice Adedokun also ordered that Pastor Olaoye be restrained from representing himself as a candidate for any installation ceremony or wearing regalia resembling that of the Soun of Ogbomoso Chieftaincy. This order will also remain in effect until the mandatory injunction is resolved.
Nigerian Tribune recalls that Oyo State governor, Makinde had in a statement by his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Olusegun Olayiwola approved the selection of Pastor Olaoye as the next Soun of Ogbomosoland.
He said the approval followed adherence to processes specified under the law.
The commissioner charged the monarch-elect in the position to facilitate harmony, understanding and tolerance among his people.
This is as he urged the people of Ogbomoso to work with the monarch to consolidate the successes of his forefathers.
