Last month, a rumor surfaced that OnePlus is planning to announce a compact flagship smartphone, and its partial specifications have just surfaced. The initial rumor did mention that this will be a Snapdragon 8 Elite phone, and now we have more info.
OnePlus is allegedly working on a compact flagship, and its specifications have just surfaced
The name of this phone will allegedly be the OnePlus Ace 5 Mini. That name is not something the source specifically mentioned, but he did mention some specs. The information comes from Digital Chat Station, one of the best-known Chinese tipsters.
He says that the phone is currently in the prototype stage. He also mentioned that the phone does not feature a periscope camera, at least the prototype unit does not. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is still not a part of the phone, but chances are it will be.
The tipster also said that a 6.3-inch display will likely be used, with a 1.5K resolution. A 50-megapixel main camera was also mentioned, and OPPO will use Sony’s IMX906 camera sensor here. That is the same camera the Nubia Z70 Ultra uses, for example.
The tipster did not mention the exact version of Android that will ship on the phone, but Android 15 is expected. OPPO’s ColorOS 15 will come pre-installed on top of Android 15.
This phone could remain exclusive to China
Now, we’re not sure when OPPO will launch this smartphone. It will launch in China first, that’s almost certain, and it remains to be seen if a global model will become official at all. This smartphone could easily remain exclusive to China.
OPPO is likely looking to compete with the Vivo X200 Pro mini, the iPhone 16 Pro, and several other more compact flagship-grade smartphones on the market. We’ve surprisingly seen quite a few of them announced this year.
