Star Trek: Voyager’s sequel miniseries is reaching its conclusion, and now IDW Publishing has released the first advanced details about the final issue of Homecoming. The story pits Captain Janeway and her crew against the mysterious aliens known as Species 8472, and the solicitation for the ending suggests a few more twists and turns in store.
CBR released an exclusive first look at Star Trek: Voyager: Homecoming #5. written by Susan and Tilly Bridges, with art by Angel Hernandez. It is set to be released in February 2026.
The synopsis promises “one last epic, soaring moment” for the Voyager and its crew, but beyond that, details remain largely under wraps about Homecoming’s conclusion.

The five-issue Homecoming miniseries picks up right where Star Trek: Voyager left of in its final episode “Endgame,” with Voyager having finally escaped the Delta Quadrant and on an approach vector for Earth. Homecoming quickly subverts its own title, pulling Voyager away from its long-awaited reunion with Earth for one more intense adventure.
The antagonists this time? A returning Species 8472, one of the standout additions to Trek lore from Voyager’s TV run. Seeking revenge on Janeway and the Voyager crew, Species 8472 threatens all of humanity, leaving it up to the heroes aboard Voyager to save the day one more time if they want to see home again.

Captain Janeway and her crew are prisoners of Species 8472 on their organic, ever-changing ship, and the Voyager is similarly snared in its clutches.
But not all is lost. Imprisoned with them are the rebel Species 8472 who once posed as Starfleet members Boothby and Archer—and they hold the secret to their escape.
All that stands between them and their homecoming now is Species 8472’s revenge-bent captain… and the issue of how to open up a singularity into Earth’s space.
Most of this won’t be new to those who have followed Homecoming through its first several issues. However, there is at least one bit of new information here. That is, the fact that there are factions within Species 8472, with the “rebels” set to join forces with Voyager’s crew.
The “Voyager” Is A “P.S.” To The Beloved Series, But Will It Have A Happy Ending?

Star Trek: Voyager: Homecoming #1’s big twist revealed that Species 8742 was masquerading as familiar humans in order to lure Janeway and Voyager into a trap. However, now the synopsis for Homecoming #5 makes it clear that the same 8472 members that helped trick them also “hole the secret” to their survival as Homecoming reaches its apex.
Covers and solicitations for Homecoming #3 and #4 confirm that the Borg are going to get involved in the series as well, making this a full-fledged sequel to one of Voyager’s most dramatic arcs, which introduced Species 8472, as well as iconic Trek hero Seven of Nine, who is set up to play a major role in the last two issues.
Voyager’s sequel series started off to mixed reviews from fans, while its second issue excelled at recapturing the magic of the classic sci-fi series. With three issues to go, the “endgame” for the comic is in sight, and it remains to be determined if Star Trek: Voyager can fully deliver a satisfying post-script to its finale.
